Monopoly and Oligarchy

– Mrs Divya Singh Rathore

There should be competition in the market if there is no competition there will be monopoly which destroys innovation, increases prices and quality of product. prof. Fedrick Hakye and prof. Milton Fredmann, always in the favour of competitive market but it is Karl Marx the German prof. later on V.I. Lenin who focused on state monopoly after the collapse of Soviet Union and the rise of Then S Ping in China market economy started to flourish in the name of Regainism and Thacherism, which focused on de-regularisation, decentralisation and globalisation of economy.

United State, Britain, China, India and Brazil all of these mighty economy started free market economy. Japan, Germany, South Korea has already got benefit from this system. The world bank, IMF and the other international financial organizations helped for this project.

After the 1990 people movement Nepal was the first country in south Asia who freely adopted market economy. But this market economy did not bring any fruit for Nepal. China and India became the economic giants of the world. But in Nepal it brought only the corruption Neoplasm and mal-administration. If the first time and Nepalese government started selling all the public owed enterprises but which were established by late king Mahendra Bir Bikram shah, they sold big corporation. But National neither get any employment nor technology nor any revenue. The regime took a huge commission from the brokers  and sold them any rotten price. The sell is not transparent nobody knows where the money is gone from this sold enterprises. This is the corruption from the ruling elites both in the policy and operational level.

Nepal became the members of WTO, since them we have a free flew of all the agricultural products from India without any there bound to leave farming occupation. In  Nepal we have some cottage and garment industries because we have a free flew of textile electrical goods from Hong Kong, Singapore Taiwan and china, thus almost 25 thousand medium and small size of industries were closed.

Since 1990 the Nepalese government made easy to issue passport then all the youths were unemployed applied. The government then issued the licences to the man power agencies, these man power agencies used to charge 23 lakhs Nepalese rupees to send these unemployed youths to the golf country. Then the government issued license for the student consultancy These Nepalese youth started to apply to North America, Europe, Japan and Australia. They were charging up to 30 thousand USD. Nepalese Brokers especially top bureaucrats, NGOs started trafficking all these unemployed youth to these countries charging them 30,000 USD. Thus Nepal has either industries nor farming nor youth, it became a desert.

In the country Maoist started people’s war since 1996, they destroyed infrastructure, killed innocents and robbed banks and private and public properties. Since 2006 they came to power, they have a huge competition , robbing from the state and depositing that money in the foreign banks, in their agents name Ajay Sumargi is one of the character who is responsible for hidden Prachanda’s illegal property.

Now in Nepal there is the syndicate of few business houses which is illegal in all the democratic countries because it is cartel. No business company can fix the price and share it with another company. In Nepal last time we had a blockade from the India. Some of the black-marketers  collected to the petroleum products increased the price and created the artificial deficiency which is a serious crime in all the world but in Nepal neither the marked investigation authorities nor the police investigated it and brought the culprits into the justice.

In Nepal we have just 6 business houses which claim themselves as manufactures, suppliers and retailers. But in fact they are neither manufacturers nor suppliers just agents of foreign companies. The richest man Binod Chudhary has not any manufacturing industries in the country he has just an agent of Korean Suzuki and others. This so called businessman are either politician themselves for example Binod Chaudhary is the member of ruling party UML or they donated huge amount for the party cronies such as Rajendra Khetan, purchased MP post in crores of rupees from UML-MALE. So whole of the system is whole of oligarchy.

Recently the finance minister brought the budget but the budget does not cover all the general people of Nepal. The trade union and NGO’s are totally manipulated by the political parties. They are totally helpless in the government business and the bureaucracy. There is candidate monopoly only the few but pain and suffering from the Nepalese. Therefore this system bring us no prosperity, no innovation and no competition. Therefore this should be totally destroyed.
